Sat, April 15 – 7 to 8:30 p.m. – THE GREAT VIGIL OF EASTER
In darkness, a new fire is kindled and the Paschal candle is lighted. We enter the church singing, “The light of Christ.” The ancient text of the Exsultet is sung. We listen to four Old Testament stories of God’s deliverance, praying and singing as candles illumine the church. We renew our Baptismal Covenant. With the ringing of bells and a flood of light, we greet the Risen Lord and celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter.
